Story
14 women and 2 children have been killed due to suspected domestic violence since lockdown started in the UK. That’s twice as many women as would normally have been killed in the same period (which is hardly a good thing either, but that’s another story). Domestic violence has surged since lockdown started and support services - always stretched - are struggling to cope for a number of reasons - staff sickness or isolation, having to deliver services in different ways and the sheer volume of women needing help.
In better times, forward-thinking colleges and councils offer training to help hairdressers, beauticians and nail technicians spot the signs of domestic abuse and coercive control and signpost women to further help.
I love this idea. And my roots are doing my head in. So I decided to put the two things together and shave my bonce for Women’s Aid.
I know there are so many calls on your cash right now, but even a couple of pounds can help to save a woman’s life. So please donate if you can.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
