Story
We would love to raise more though - and there is still time to do so.
Do watch this film of Gavin's wife, Jo and her Canine Partner, Derby, to see what a difference a Canine Partner can make:
Etta and Geoffry Wyatt have just added to our total with a Carol Concert in their home - a fabulous occasion and incredibly generous - thank you.Password: CaninePartners
Gavin Hill completed his *Ride Across Britain* 'up-hill' from Lands End to John O’Groats in September. "My own ride was fabulous, and the whole event was extraordinary. It was not without its tragedy though - you will have heard about a fatal accident that involved one of my co-riders; it put life back into brutal perspective and made me even more grateful for what I have been able to do with your help"
*Crack Up the Downs* with Sarah Brignall and The Washington Fringe was an amazing evening and just as hilarious as it was promised to be. From angels on quad bikes, to magic, to Barbara Woodhouse skits, to songs about marrows….and more - brilliant!
Sarah has a long-standing connection with the charity, and she and Gavin both know first hand quite how wonderful Canine Partners are as Gavin’s wife, and Sarah’s friend, Jo, has Derby. Jo is a wheelchair user as a result of a car accident 8 years ago; having a Canine Partner has changed her life, and that of the whole family – literally.
Canine Partners train dogs to provide practical day-to-day assistance to people with disabilities. The dogs are trained to help with everyday tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches, and getting help in an emergency. These amazing dogs bring companionship, a sense of security and an increase in social interaction. Canine Partners receives no government funding and relies solely on public donations.
