Story
Most of you wonderful friends and family already know that last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I still maintain I'm the luckiest girl in the world - it was detected early - stage 1 and I had surgery and radiotherapy. The experience has changed me and my life - I even got married! I also started to network with other women who'd had a similar experience. Through them, I was put in touch with team phoenix. A foundation that supports women post breast cancer to not only get back to fitness but nurture mind and soul too. Along with an amazing group of women who I will do this triathlon with, I want to raise funds so that future survivors will be supported to get back to their best and get the benefit from this amazing charity. I'm also doing this for the women I have known and loved who did not survive this cruel disease - you will be in my heart on the 24th September and driving my legs forward when I think I can't go on.
And if that doesn't get you digging deep - then i promise to upload the most ridiculous photographs of me in a wetsuit!
Finally, this opportunity has really pushed me further than I would have pushed myself and all the while I maintain a regular exercise programme, I'm reducing my risk of recurrence by a massive 50% It's a win win situation. Team Phoenix really supports women to survive and thrive and I'm grateful to them to be given this opportunity. Please be as generous as you can, the support i've been given is truly priceless.
