Story
As I have had hypothyroidism for almost two years now, I know how crucial it is to raise public awareness of thyroid problems. I did a one-day sponsored walk last September with six friends, raising £350 for BTF. We thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the cheering messages.
So in July I shall be doing a more ambitious three-week walk. It starts on Saturday 6th near our home (Hebden Bridge) and heads south along beautiful canal paths - arriving in London on Sunday 28th.
So please support my sponsored walk in one of two ways:
either sponsor me via my new justgiving page (see below)
and/or join the walkers when they reach a place convenient for you.
This is a 'roll on, roll off' walk: you can join (and leave) the route at any time that suits you. For dates and locations day-by-day over the three weeks, please go the BTF website's 'Get Involved' page & click on Jill-Liddington-s-canal-walk.
BTF is a small health charity that does a great job in keeping up-to-date with medical research and maintaining contact with people who have thyroid illnesses - of which hypothyroidism is the most common.
I've found hypothyroidism experiences vary a great deal (eg levels of fatigue, & brain fog), as do speeds of recovery (just weeks, to years). It can initially be frustrating to discover exactly how you fit into the pattern - and BTF networks, working alongside the NHS, really help.
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. See you in July!
