Story
Dear All,
I am an enthusiastic open water swimmer and for the last two years I’ve been swimming outdoors throughout the year in various lidos, lakes, seas and local rivers and have participated in open water swimming events.
This year, I’ve signed up to swim the English Channel with a relay team of 6 people and I plan to raise £1500 or more for SwimTayka charity whose mission is to give disadvantaged communities around the world access to swimming teachers.
You must be thinking there are many like me who swim in open water and why should you help me raise funds! So, here's the interesting fact- I am Type1 Diabetic-insulin dependent and I need to check my blood sugars frequently (finger prick at least thrice a day) to ensure I do not have low or high blood sugars (both of which are detrimental to my health). When I swim in open water, it makes the management of my already complicated health condition even more difficult. I know the pain of living with a condition that limits my ability to be active, but I’m lucky to have the medical support and resources to live a healthy and active life despite my condition.
Every little amount donated by you will go a long way in funding swimming projects run by SwimTayka. Please donate generously and share the cause with your near and dear ones and help me reach my fundraising goal.
Many Thanks
Jharna
