Story
2022 marks not only my 30th trip around the sun but also celebrates the 30th Anniversary of AFK - Working with Disability's existence, which has supported young people with disabilities and autism to live more independent and fulfilling lives through life-changing equipment, education and employment support since 1992.
5 years after a serious back operation and a slow recovery process, I now feel strong enough to take on this personal challenge. A back injury in my early 20s meant I could no longer take part in contact sports and has left me with limited mobility. Although I am unlikely to take part in contact sports again, I feel I am at a point where a half marathon is within reach.
**It's also on my brother's birthday who is also taking part. Although I certainly won't have a chance of beating his time I hope to pip him on the fundraising front! Please donate if you can, or you can support me along my training journey on socials!**
With just under 3 months to train, I could not be more proud to take this challenge on in aid of a charity I have worked with for over two years.
AFK’s work really does make a real difference both locally in North London and nationally. Any donations made could help towards a new piece of equipment for a child in pain, or will contribute to supporting a young person into work through job coaching and employment
support.
