Story
Hi Guys,
I am making my third trip to ACE after exams next month - it is exciting to be going as an official vet student!
There is a real need for ACE's veterinary expertise and equipment in Egypt - A desert climate is not an easy environment for horses to thrive in, coupled with the fact that the economy and tourist industry is struggling thanks to political instability, covid and now a global food crisis... Due to owners lack of money, resources and knowledge, working equids really suffer - they live tied up on the streets, working in extreme temperatures often with ill-fitting tack, severe wounds, infectious diseases and limited food and water. It is a vicious cycle as the human population also suffers and relies on their animals to provide income; so as their horses get weaker, they earn less money which puts more pressure on the horses to work more to earn money which makes them more ill...less money...more pressure...and unfortunately a life of misery ensues.
I will be using social media to document my trip and bring awareness of the situation and have set this page up for anyone who can, to make a donation!
Thank you!!!
