Story
One evening in November 2014 I was house sitting for my friend and having a glass of wine or two.. okay I had three glasses.. when I came to the conclusion that 2015 had to be the year I complete my first marathon. I have run a few half marathons over the last couple years and came to the decision that it was time to set myself a goal twice as challenging. Loch Ness was an easy choice for me for many reasons, firstly I wanted my first marathon to be in Scotland, I have a great love for hiking in the Scottish hills mainly with my other half as did my Grandpa Watt who I am running this marathon in memory of and finally my sister’s first marathon was also Loch Ness so it ticked all the boxes!
Choosing a charity to raise money for was the easiest decision, I am raising money for BiPolar Scotland, a charity representing and supporting an illness close to my heart. My Grandpa died when I was young yet I have always felt a strong connection to him throughout my life, I have mainly inherited his love for climbing mountains and his love for horses. I strongly believe he is always watching over me so this is my chance to say thank you to him for staying true to who he was even though it was distressing and traumatic for him and for the family at times. I aim to raise as much money and awareness as possible for BiPolar Scotland to help those suffering in the hope that it may contribute towards saving someone’s life and to help bring people out of the darkness and into the light.
Please donate what you can, words of encouragement and wisdom are welcome too! I promise I’ll work hard over the next 12 weeks so that I can cross the finish line on the 27th!
Thank you all you’re all wonderful people.
Love,
Jess x
