Story
I am taking on these challenges to raise as much money as possible for The Throat Cancer Foundation - a charity that many of you will know is so very close to my heart.
On Sunday 11th September, I'll be trekking the 50KM route from Runnymede to Henley-On-Thames as part of The Ultra Thames Path Challenge.
Less than 2 weeks later, I'll be joining the 10KM event at Hyde Park London, on Saturday 24th September, to raise awareness of mouth cancers. My Dad Paul will be coming along too.
I will be taking on these treks in memory of my much loved and dearly missed Mother-In-Law, Tessa; who we lost just last October so suddenly to Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. Raising money will not bring Tessa back, but it might help stop someone else's family from losing a loved one in such a devastating way.
These challenges are also my way of 'giving something back' for the incredible treatment and care my Dad (Paul Harris) received from Queen Alexandra's Hospital's ENT Unit in 2015 for Inoperable Throat Cancer.
It is my hope that fundraising for this charity might just help improve treatment side effects and overall prognosis for those going through treatments for Throat Cancer. At the very least, I hope to raise awareness about Throat and Thyroid Cancers and help people learn how to spot symptoms early.
So please, please, please, share this journey with all your friends and family, and a massive THANK YOU for every single kind donation and message of support so far!
Love and Hugs,
Jessica
