Story
When my mum started to experience extreme back pain at the end of 2014, the last thing she thought she would be disgnosed with was... breast cancer.
20 years ago my mum had breast cancer and she was given the all clear 10 years after. Little did we know that tumours would return in her skeltetal bone, causing severe spinal compression. All the medical teams were surpised she could even walk because her spinal cord was being put under such pressure.... and thanks to some pretty fantastic surgery in February, now she still can.
She has an ongoing fight with cancer though, and will be on a course of treatment to keep the disease at bay for many years to come.
1 in 8 people will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetime (including men!) but thanks to the work of major research centres such as those for Breast Cancer Now, more people survive the disease now then ever before.
Breast Cancer Now are currently researching all sorts about breast cancer, and very pertinently how to stop the disease spreading:

We might not all be able to come up with new drugs in our day jobs, but I would ask you all to take some time out to donate to a very worthy cause. Join me in walking too if you can.... together we can Walk to Fight Cancer.
With love,
Jessica (and her beloved mum) xx
