Story
Most people know that if you see me running, you probably should be too. However things are changing in 2020! I'm running the Big Half in March to raise money for StreetDoctors - a national charity I volunteer with who teach young people life saving first aid.
Violence is the third leading cause of death of young people in Europe. Watching a 14 year old boy cry for his mum within hours of my first time in A&E because he'd been stabbed is something I'll never forget, and the problem isn't going away, with 2018 seeing the highest number of fatal stabbings in the UK since records began. StreetDoctors equip young people at risk of youth violence with basic first aid skills so that they can help both themselves and others.
In 2018, we taught 4,039 young people and we're hoping to teach even more by the end of 2019. I've loved working with StreetDoctors in both Birmingham and now South London - it's been a chance to meet young people outside of the uni bubble and give something back to the communities around me. Anything raised goes straight to teaching even more young people, in even more areas of the UK, so please consider giving a pound or two! (and if you do I'll forgive you for not getting me an xmas present xx)
