Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My Mum was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia in December 2008.
About 600 people in the UK are diagnosed with CML each year. People with CML make too many white blood cells which aren't fully developed. Over time these abnormal white blood cells gather in the spleen, causing it to enlarge. They also gather in the Bone Marrow reducing the amount of normal white blood cells & red blood cells developed.
My Mum was in there in the weeks leading up to Christmas & my Dad & I got her a Purple Christmas Tree to lift her spirits! Whilst she still has to go to the hospital for blood tests and an annual Bone Marrow Examination, she is stable now :)
My best friend, Beth & I have therefore decided to raise money for this charity to help future families with these difficult times!
