Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page...I have chosen to raise money for RMCH charity because I felt like I needed to do SOMETHING..
My niece is growing up with this incredible place being her 2nd home (although at times I'm sure it feels more like it's her first).
Let me explain a little bit about our warrior princess; Our Charlie Bear has been diagnosed with Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, holocord syringomyelia, neuropathic bladder and bowel, paraplegia and global developmental delay amongst many others (feel free to Google, I have had to). Putting all of this aside though, she is also just like any other 3 year old. She has the sass and attitude of a teenager, she's funny and may have started picking up on my swears.. Ooops! She's also incredibly loving, and strives for independence, and if it wasn't for the care, support and surgeries that this hospital provide to her then she wouldn't have that luxury, and I wouldn't be able to sit here gushing about how well she is developing and thriving either.
I live over 200 miles away from my sister, so I'm unable to be the 'in-person' support I'd like to be to her on a daily basis, but after reading another heart wrenching post on her Facebook, and having sat through a phone conversation where she had to perform compressions on her 3 year old daughter (and my neice) after she went into asystole/cardiac arrest again I started thinking about the things I COULD do to help and show support.
So here I am.
Your average couch potato about to start training for a 50k trek at Trekfest, asking if you can also join me in supporting this amazing charity, and my neice, by donating and/or sharing my page.
