Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in the Great London Swim on 31st August. It is being held at The Royal Victoria Dock and is a one mile course. It is the equivalent of 63 lengths of a 25m pool. I'm not the fastest swimmer but just like Dory says 'just keep swimming'! I am going to challenge myself to pick up the pace and complete the course in 30 minutes or under. My main concern will be swimming in the River Thames! I am doing this as a personal fitness challenge but if I can raise some money for Macmillan Cancer along the way that is a bonus.
Sadly cancer will affect all of us at some point in our lives, it has been estimated that 1 in 3 of us will develop cancer at some point in our life time. If we are lucky not to develop cancer it is likely that it will affect someone we know and love.
I will be doing this swim in memory of my Mum, Aunt and Nan. All of whom were affected by cancer. My Mum and Aunt bravely fought to try and beat cancer but sadly they were beaten. I try to live life to the full in their memory as life is very short and we should enjoy it whilst we have the chance!
I know times are alittle tough at the moment and everyone seems to be asking for money but if you can only spare £2.50 or £5.00 every little helps! Macmillan Cancer is a great support for many people.
