Story
In December 2010 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. During 2011 and half of 2012 I underwent the usual treatment, am currently clear of the disease and hope to remain so, though there are never any guarantees with BC. Not everybody is quite so lucky.
A rather remarkable lady, Karen Goodwin, has been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer - it has spread and is now in other parts of her body. Despite this, in September 2011 she and a friend attempted the climb, but were turned back by atrocious weather. Karen is now rather poorly so won't be well enough to make the climb, so a group of her friends are doing it for her!
Firstly, a bit about us as a group. Most of us have had breast cancer, or have been affected by BC in the family. We range in age from 16 (though she's staying at the bottom to make the tea when we get back!) to, erm, considerably older. We also range in fitness, from regular climbers to getting out of puff climbing up the stairs. Those who know me know which end of the spectrum I'm closest to... I get out of puff just walking up Guildford High Street so this is a B I G challenge for me. Not quite sure what my training regime will involve, but if you see a red-faced sweaty woman muttering to herself walking up and down Guildford High Street, it may well be me!
I would really appreciate you sponsoring me to get to the top of Mount Snowdon, and I promise I won't be going up on the train - it will all be on my own two feet.
