Story
From 16 - 26 February 2017 I will be taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest mountain and one of the world’s most iconic peaks – trekking 5,895 metres to the summit. I am currently feeling scared, nervous but also excited! Eeekkk!
This challenge will be raising money for Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, who support hundreds or children and adults with disabilities, and their families, in the county.
The people Diverse Abilities supports and their families – parents, grandparents, siblings etc - face challenges every single day, so I wanted to challenge myself even further than I have ever before and raise vital funds to provide further support to the amazing people the charity cares for.
Plus, as I work for Diverse Abilities, and have had a close connection with them for nearly six years, I see day in, day out the work of the charity and the difference it makes… Just imagine your child was born with a serious disability and there was no cure. No one can tell you what life is going to be like, only that your child will need constant care throughout their whole life. Diverse Abilities is here to support children, many into adulthood, and their families in Dorset.
Knowing that I will be helping by raising funds, will give me determination and enthusiasm throughout my training and during the climb itself… I know it is going be tough on my little legs and I will no doubt feel sick but it will be worth it as I am doing it for those that face challenges every day.
Please dig deep and sponsor me to take on this challenge… you will be making a difference to someone’s future.
