Story

I am running the 2024 London Marathon because I want to help Meningitis Research Foundation achieve their goal of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.

Anyone of any age can get meningitis and across the world 1000 people die of it every day.

I contracted viral meningitis when I was 31 weeks pregnant with my third son. I woke up one morning with extreme head and neck pain, unable to move or open my eyes. I had to be ambulanced to hospital and spent a week there receiving treatment. I kept my eyes shut for pain every time I saw light. Luckily I made a full recovery and my baby was safe and delivered at full term. It was a frightening, painful and exhausting experience that no one should go through.

I’m so delighted to be running the London Marathon as it’s a lifelong ambition and I couldn’t be happier to support the Meningitis Research Foundation in doing so. Please donate as best you can to help this charity and to enable me to run the marathon with absolute gratitude!

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
