Story
In September 2013 I will be taking part in a 400km cycle ride in Sri Lanka to raise funds for Genesis research trust, founded in 1985 by Professor Winston to finance the largest collection of scientists and clinicians to improve the health of women and babies.
The cause feels close to my heart as 27 years ago I was pregnant with twins but sadly at 12 weeks pregnant lost one of the twins but went on to give birth to a healthy baby, my oldest son.
This isn’t always the case; I was blessed to have a baby boy at the end of my pregnancy as I was expecting twins however, with some pregnancies, that unfortunately even with breakthrough medical research the understanding of why some pregnancies end in tragedy is still not understood. Women are still miscarrying with no reasoning or explanation, and this is why I want to take part in this Cycle ride to raise awareness of this much needed research into the cause of why 1 in 4 babies are miscarried.
Through hosting events such as Coffee mornings, table sales, Karaoke nights, and 70s discos I am aiming to raise funds, I am physically training using my cross trainer 10km each day, running every three days, cycling 5 to 10 miles twice per week to build stamina and maximise peak fitness.
All this will enable me to participate in what I feel will not only be mentally, physically challenging but a life changing experience.
The impact of giving and your support from donations on line, and attending the organised events will enable the Genesis research trust to continue with their exceptional work.
Thank you in advance for sponsoring me, I will endeavour to keep you updated of events and monies raised to include you in this amazing experience.
