Story
As the daughter of Lebanese immigrants, I grew up with stories of life in a war-torn country. I became passionate about human rights at a young age and have made a career of working in support of human rights. An avid runner, when I first learned of Free to Run’s mission - to create a safe space for girls and women in conflict zones - I could not imagine a more appropriate cause to become involved in.
Currently, Free to Run is focused on the wellbeing and safety of its staff in Afghanistan, and have been pursuing relocation options for some of the team over the past month. While this security situation has been unfolding rapidly, they have taken precautionary security measures these past few weeks and months in regards to their offices and documentation of their staff. Free to Run is working day and night to find solutions, to shift and adapt as much as they can, and have not lost hope. The mission will remain the same: to support women and girls and their wellbeing through sports.
