March Update
OK Chaps. Halfway Stage. So far I have lost 9.5 lbs, so am a little behind target in terms of reaching the goal by Easter Sunday. Have no fear - regular digging on the allotment, and a new walking campaign, now that the spring is here, will give a new spurt to the campaign. Progress updates will come on a fortnightly basis, from now on. so watch this space.....
The Beginnings:
Thanks for visiting my Just Giving page - I've decided it's time to get serious about shedding a significant amount of weight and thought that the threat of public humiliation combined with the aim of raising money for a very good cause might just be the missing incentive I need to make a really good go of it.
So, I am weighing in this morning, on Monday, 10 January and will be aiming to lose 28lbs by Easter Monday, 25 April (15 weeks away). My starting weight, I'm afraid to say, is 17st 5lbs. I will be updating this page with my progress on a regular basis, so sign up now and watch this space!
I'm raising money for Redthread, a small youth charity with big ambitions. Based in South East London, Redthread has been around since 1998, delivering a range of activities for young people in SE London, including a very popular youth club, lessons, assemblies and information sessions on a variety of subjects such as drugs, relationships and suchlike. More recently the charity has become involved in some innovative approaches to dealing with adolescent health issues by working in partnership with schools, GP surgeries and in particular King's College Hospital Emergency Department, where it has been working with the clinical team in order to explore new ways of engaging with young people who have been the victims of violent crime, often drug and gang-related, in order to try and stop the cycle of violence that they can all too easily become involved in. By sponsoring me to lose weight, you will also be helping to support all of Redthread's work with young people in South East London.
