THE CHALLENGE: To complete 30 tasks/challenges that are new or challenging for me on the run up to my next Birthday.
The Original 30 things list was set up to highlight how muscle diseases can dramatically affect people's quality of life to various degrees and aimed to inspire everyone (whether they're healthy or unwell), to achieve what they want to achieve in their lives, no matter how big or small the challenge is to them.
The first list (#30thingsforyour30th) raised money for CANINE PARTNERS who train dogs to help severely disabled adults who suffer from a range of conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Injuries, Strokes, Arthritis and Muscular Diseases to name but a few.
Back then I had an undiagnosed muscle wasting problem that affected my bum, my back and my neck. It progressed slowly since 2011. And over time, some of the every day "things" are becoming a little bit more of a challenge to me.
I am not disabled. I actually work as a Self Employed Dog Walker and I know for a fact if I didn't have my clients I would be in a worse state then I am now. The dogs help me achieve my full potential each day...so what Canine Partners do to help physically disabled people who are much worse off then me must be beyond life changing!
After completing the first list I decided to do a second as it made such a positive impact on my life and others around me.
In April 2017 I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Spinal Arthritis. Although times ahead will be tough, the 30 things list is now more important then ever to me. From now on I will be raising money for 2 charities...Canine Partners and Fibromyalgia UK...both of these charities make a huge difference to peoples lives.
The current list is "#30thingsnowyouare30" (running from 14th Oct 2016 to 9th Oct 2017) which you can follow on Facebook. Donations can be made through Just Giving here or direct the charity websites from the addresses below.
Thank You so much to everyone's support. Let the good times roll on!
