Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 8th September 2019 I will participate in my second Great North Run and my 3rd half marathon since turning 40. Anyone who knows me well, will probably find it incredulous that not only did I complete it last year, and the Manchester half marathon in May, but that I intend to do it again. I still maintain that I will never be a runner!! 😂🤷♀️
This recent conversion to running has been inspired by my Dad, Paul. He was the age I am now (41 😳) when he lost his brave battle with a brain tumour. The day after the run this year, will see the 23rd anniversary of his death. He died on the morning of September 9th 1996 in Wigan hospice on Poolstock lane.
The hospice was an integral part of supporting my family (Mum and Brother) and him in living with his illness and ultimately, his final days and his death. I cannot comprehend us having gotten through those years without the care, compassion and support of the Hospice, it's nurses, doctors, staff and volunteers. So, this year, I hope that the small, insignificant amount of pain I will put myself through on September 8th, will inspire and motivate some of you to chuck us a few quid to support the Hospice in continuing to support others, the way it supported us all those years ago.
Dig deep people, it's for a truly great cause.
