Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Three years ago Bob, my father in law lost his battle against Leukemia and my sister Jacqualine shortly afterwards against Multiple Myeloma. Retirement age had not been reached for either of them. My sister lived and worked in Bermuda as a nurse and later in the community helping and supporting the elderly. One of her wishes was to raise awareness of Multiple Myeloma so that people could recognise the symptoms early and get the correct treatment. When I saw an advert pop up for the ITU World Triathlon, to take place for the first time in Bermuda, I saw an opportunity. The next pop up issued the date - 28 April 2018 - this would have been my sisters 65th birthday.. I felt that this event had to be used as a time to raise awareness, with the date and venue being symbolic. Despite being in one of the most beautiful locations in the world, it is no longer the same - my sister is not there.
Bob and Jacqualine loved life, family, friends, they were loving, caring and supportive throughout their lives and embraced any challenge. I miss them both very much and hope that I can help other people in the future gain the best treatment possible with continued research into these diseases.
All of the money I raise will go directly to the charity - my challenge for this event will be swimming in a wet suit in open water!
Thank you for any donations and support. And thank you to those family and friends who will be in Bermuda cheering us on, it means a lot.
Jennifer xx
