Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those who knew him, Michael Perry (dad/grandad/Mick) loved keeping fit through cycling and walking. That is why it was such a shock 6 yrs ago when he was diagnosed with the late stages of pancreatic cancer. We saw a healthy and charismatic man turn into a shadow of his former self as a result of this awful disease. In a matter of months he passed away. We (his family) think about him everyday and never forget him or his idiosyncrasies!
As a tribute to him & to his strength, we are going to tackle 1000 miles in 2017. We will cycle the coast to coast and ramble our way up and down his favourite fells. We will challenge ourselves with the very things he used to live for. The members of the fundraising team include: myself (Jennie), John, Gill, Patrick, Faith, Kimberley, Alan, Sammy, Ricky, Tasha, Sam, Chloe, Liam, Jamie!!
Fundraising Activities include:
1. Isle of Wight: Sun 2nd April & Mon 3rd April, 62 miles circular route cycle over 2 consecutive days, 2 Participants
2. Witton weavers way (Blackburn), Fri 14th April & sat 15th April. 32 miles walking over 2 consecutive days, 14 participants.
3. Coast to coast, Cycle 130 miles from Whitehaven to Sunderland, 3 consecutive days: Sun 23rd July - Tues 25th July. 4 participants.
4. Windermere Way, Approx 40 mile circuit -Walking. Sat 29th July - tues 1st Aug. Full 4 consecutive days include 4 participants. 2 consecutive days include 9 participants.
We decided to fundraise for the 'pancreatic cancer action' charity as we believe that early diagnosis is the key. Dad was complaining of stomach pains for a while before his diagnosis - it was misdiagnosed as indigestion. It is a challenging disease to diagnose early. The money raised will help towards education and research. We thank you for your help & will keep you informed of our journey.
Love the Perry family!! xxx
