Fundraising for Isabel Hospice
Story
In October 2012 I will be trekking the Sahara Desert in Morocco in memory of my Father Geoff Thomas Huson and also, to raise needed funds for Isabel Hospice to continue their amazing care. This trek will not be like any normal trek will be battling high temperature and the harsh environment, trekking on sand and by night we will be camping in tents in which the temperature will dramatically drop.
The reason I have chosen to take part in this trek for Isabel hospice is due to the care they gave my father in September 2010, sadly my father lost his long & brave battle with Cancer. The nurses and doctors gave myself & my family the support we needed in such a difficult time. Even giving us the chance to stay with my dad overnight to ensure his 'uglies' (dad's nickname for myself, my two sisters & mother) were with him & to ensure he was never alone. We were lucky to be able to stay with him to say our final goodnight.
My dad was passionate about giving back to Isabel Hospice for their great work & care which they carry out every day.

A little bit more about Isabel Hospice
Isabel Hospice provide free vital end of life care to those living with cancer and other life- limiting illnesses in eastern Hertfordshire and as I am sure you can imagine this makes a huge difference to our local community. Therir care is there when people really need it whether it is in our In-Patient Unit, their Day Services, Allied Health Professionals such as Physiotherapy and Occupational Health, their Community Nurse Specialists that visit patients in their homes, Rapid Response, our Bereavement Support, Benefits Advice and even a 24 hour Advice line. Plus more..
To provide all of this free care costs Isabel Hospice £4.5m, they have to raise £3m of this through charitable sources.! Proud that out of every £1 raised, 87p goes directly on patient care and the remaining 13p gets invested on raising the next £1.
