Story
On the 14th May 2017, I'm doing a skydive for Loros, in memory of my Mum who lost her battle with cancer on 22nd January 2016. Please help to raise money, so Loros can continue their outstanding care and support; It may help you or your loved one!
Mum suffered a rare type of cancer called 'subungual malignant Melanoma'. This is an unusual type of malignant melanoma that starts under the nail. It can appear as a stripe or band on the nail, which is discoloured, and may show signs of bleeding.
Unfortunately, my Mums melanoma behaved in a very aggressive manner, spreading rapidly to the rest of her body despite a series of operations and treatments. Regrettably, there was nothing more that could be done for Mum; she was admitted to Loros where she sadly lost her battle.
Loros Hospice is a local charity, who cares for over 2,500 people across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. Transferring Mum to Loros was an extremely frightening prospect to the unknown. However, the quality and compassionate care Loros staff give to terminally I'll patients and their families is amazing. Without a doubt the best team was caring for my Mum, helping to make her as peaceful and comfortable as possible in her last few days. They also gave us as a family outstanding support and care throughout.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
