Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for Penumbra, the charity that I have worked for over the last 12 years. Penumbra is one of Scotland’s largest mental health charities. They empower people to look forward to mental wellbeing with personalised recovery focused support. Penumbra provide a wide range of services which offer hope and practical steps towards recovery. Over the years I've worked for them I've been very impressed with Penumbra's constant efforts to improve the way mental ill health is viewed and the tools used to assist individual recovery.
I started running in May last year after I realised I couldn't walk fast enough to meet my steps targets. About 3 weeks into my couch to 5k training I realised how much I like competing against myself and decided there and then that I was now training for a marathon. My steady training got derailed in September when I had to stop running for 3 months due to an injury but I am determined I can still do this.
Running, like knitting, is for me a great tool for relieving anxiety and I am delighted to be able to use it to try and raise some money for a charity that I support. However, I will not be knitting whilst I run!
Thanks for reading.
