Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Aiming Higher in Malawi is a registered charity which supports a number of projects in Mulanje, including the Disabled Children's Project. Disabled children in Malawi are marginalised from society. They are not given the medical attention that they need and are often considered unworthy of aid.
Caroline Tchete has spent the last number of years studying towards gaining her certifcate as a Clinical Officer. She was one of the founding members of The Disabled Children’s Project and her work is critcal to assisting and treating children who desperatley require medical care. These children suffer from conditions such as hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy.
Sponsoring Caroline will allow her to study for a further three years at the College of Medicine in Blantyre to become a fully qualified doctor, specialising in rural community health and paediatrics. This will greatly assist the sustainability of the Disabled Children’s Project.

Caroline initiated the emergency feeding programme for those under six years suffering severe malnutrition. She has also given many inspirational talks to our GirlsGo for Health on theavoidance of early pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Due to her commitment, ability and desire to help the disabled and the young girls she was a natural choice to get sponsored. Caroline was in charge of the Chonde Health Centre which has a catchment area of 90,000 people without a qualified doctor!
Caroline faces many daily challenges such as having no ARV drugs to treat people with HIV. This is a huge problem in the area with three times the national average of girls being infected.
Caroline is currently undertaking a 12 month internship in a large General hospital in Zomba, the former Colonial Capital, which itself faces many challenges such as a lack of water and electricity. Furthermore, Caroline is a board member of the Female Educationand Empowerment Centre (FEEC) and has committed all her free time including holiday periods in assisting with training the Girls Go for Health.
