Story
5 years ago I did some serious damage to my back. I spent the following 2 weeks in a haze of valium whilst my (amazing) husband cared for me. The following months were full of slightly less drugs, a zimmer frame, and re-learning how to walk.
Fast forward to a year ago, and I finally stopped carrying my stick with me "just in case", and started to think about getting some decent mobility and fitness back.
Then there was a conversation that went along the line of "I need an excuse to walk more, but a real one" "well, I'm doing the Shine half-marathon with my mum?" "hahahaa, ok..."
So, here we are. I'm all signed up, I've started training (you've possibly noticed the walk maps appearing on FB), and now this is where you guys come in... Someone once said that the reason you sponsor people who do things like this so you don't have to do them yourself... sounds logical to me! :D
Oh, and you also get the feel good thing, all of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives, so it makes sense to help fund research, no?
You can also read the blurb that was already here....:
Help to beat all cancers.
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. This September, I’m raising money at Shine Night Walk to help Cancer Research UK fund its life-saving work.
Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years.
But we can’t stop there.
Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box when donating as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
Sleep can wait. Beating cancer can’t.
