Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Sunday 16th September I will be running my first half marathon The Great North Run to raise money and awareness for The Psoriasis Association.
Through my work I've been supporting health professionals treating psoraisis patients to acheive a better quality of life while living with the disease and wanted to support the fantastic work they do by raising some funds.
Psoriasis is an immune condition, which manifests in the skin and sometimes the joints. When a person has psoriasis, their skin replacement process speeds up, taking just a few days to replace skin cells that usually take 21-28 days. This abundance of skin cells builds up to form raised ‘plaques’ on the skin, which can also be flaky, scaly, red and itchy. Psoriasis can occur on any area of the body, including the scalp, hands, feet and genitals, although different types tend to occur on different areas.
I am hoping to complete the run in around 2 hours but as it's my first one and training has been....er....sporadic lately I am aiming to just get round in one piece.
Anything you can spare to donate will be much appreciated and spur me on to rise to this challenge!
Thanks so much
