In November 2021 we lost our beautiful Mum to the horrid C word! She has left a massive hole in the lives of everyone she knew. 

Nurses from Queenscourt were sent to help care for Mum in the last stages of her life and they were outstanding so I wanted to give a little something back. Here is a little about Queenscourt Hospice…. 

Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides support for the people of West Lancs, Southport and Formby. We care for patients with serious illnesses, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life at each new stage. We help to do this both in the Hospice and at Home through our In-Patient unit, Queenscourt Connect and Queenscourt at Home services. You can find out more about what we do on our Services section.

We receive less than 1/5^th of our costs from the NHS and the rest of the money comes from charitable donations that help keep the hospice running! 

And a poem for Mum 

You are our mum, sister, nan, friend and wife

We are here not to mourn your death but to celebrate your life

We had our ups and downs, through the good times and the bad

You were always so ditzy, sometimes so much you drove us mad

Crazy bird lady, crazy banana lady too

We will laugh when we think of our memories of you

Your friends adored you, you were really the biggest party girl

You’ll forever be wearing your party dress, go on and give the angels a twirl

With your vodka in your bag and your high heels on your feet

Now you’re reunited with Hazel and Nan, waiting for us all, next time we meet. 

So later we will raise a glass, a toast to your life we all knew

We will always remember the way you laughed and your amazing eyes of blue

So for now mum, this isn’t goodbye

It’s see you soon instead

We will curse you something rotten tomorrow
