Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. A team of 15 from Jefferies Leveraged Finance and Jefferies Finance London are preparing to climb the three highest peaks in the UK within 24 hours on June 27th.
We will begin our Three Peaks challenge in Scotland at Ben Nevis, which at its peak is 1,344 metres, or 4,409 ft. making it the tallest of the three peaks and the one we want to climb and descend first when our legs are strongest. From there the expedition will drive south into the Lake District where we will climb Scafell Pike at 978 meters or 3,209 ft. The final of the three is the Welsh mountain, Snowdon, standing at no less than 1,085 meters or 3,560 ft. The stats are even impressive for a team of bankers, 42 km total horizontal distance, 11,178 ft. climbed in 24 hours.
The reason we are doing it is to support Teenage Cancer Trust which is dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. In the UK, cancer kills more young people than any other disease. 2,500 young people between the ages of 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer each year, that’s seven young people every day. Teenage Cancer Trust have funded and developed 28 specialist cancer units to provide the best possible care and support to the young people and their families. Given the amount of young people affected by cancer, we couldn’t think of a better cause to raise money for.
The aim is for each team member to raise £5,000 and a total of £50,000 across the team. All donations are greatly appreciated. Within the UK the charity is eligible for UK Gift Aid matching. All donations will be pooled together as part of the team.
