Story
To all my lovely friends, family and colleagues
On the Saturday 28th/Sunday 29th June I will be attempting to walk 100kms (62 miles) without any overnight stop/sleep to help raise funds for Cancer Research. Having lost my good friend and colleague Natalie Power at the very young age of 33 a couple of years ago to cancer and then recently hearing that one of my best buddies’ wife (who is also very young) is also suffering from this has inspired me to do my little bit to help cure this horrible disease.
The walk itself is along the Grand Union Canal, starting out from Little Venice near Paddington at 1000 on the Saturday and finishing near Milton Keynes on the Sunday approximately 24 hours later (hopefully!).
Having never done anything like this before I have embarked on a tough training programme which has so far involved undertaking (and completing despite from suffering from very sore shin splits each time) three warm up walks ranging from 18 miles to a 26 mile hike right across the North Yorkshire Moors from Pickering to Whitby. I will be undertaking one more warm up walk before the big event which will involve a 40 mile hike at night across the Yorkshire Dales.
So if any of you would like to kindly help me beat this horrible disease by donating to Cancer Research via Just Giving (www.justgiving.com/jeff-brewer) I would very much appreciate this. Knowing that I have your support will help me carry on especially when walking throughout the night.
Pictures will be published after the event less any gruesome photos of my battered feet!
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Jeff
