Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to give all donations from my mother, Yvonne's, funeral this Tuesday, to the 'Surrey Young Carers' charity.
From personal experiences, caring for parents with any illness, especially mental illness, is very difficult, distressing and extremely painful at times. Affecting your life in many ways for many years.
Children and young people often miss out on activities, development and a normal progression of life, that their peers take for granted. The responsibilities put on them can affect their lives dramatically. A Young Carers education often suffers. They may miss out on social development, with limited time spent with friends and on top of everything else, these children also have to learn to cope with the many mixed feelings and rollercoaster of emotions that caring for others physically and mentally brings. It can be a very lonely and isolated life.
From my own experience, continually trying so hard to make everything right and bring happiness to parents with mental illness, can sometimes be soul destroying. It is often a losing battle, a battle you never give up fighting, with the small hope that one day life will be 'back to normal', whatever 'normal' may be!😊
'Surrey Young Carers'' will hold a special event with your donations. It will be specifically for children who care for parents suffering from a variety of mental illnesses including alcoholism.
My mum was a fun- loving lady, and although she had her 'troubles', ultimately she loved to laugh, have fun and see others having fun too, especially children and young people.
Your kind donations will help put a smile on a Young carers face and give them the break from responsibility and the chance to feel a little bit of freedom that they so deserve. Thank You. ☺️
