Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm raising money for the June Hancock Mesothelioma Fund by doing the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge on the 12th Sept with some friends.  It is 25 miles of up and downhill, and if I'm lucky maybe a pub at the end of it :-)

As some of you may be aware I lost my mum to this asbestos related cancer 3 years ago, she was only aged 58.  Sadly there is no cure for it, only management, and even though we all donate on a regular basis to charities who do cancer research, only a small fraction of that money goes to research on these types of cancers.  Why? because with this cancer it will die out within the next 25 years, as now there are legal regulations around the handling of asbestos.  Sadly in the meantime for the next 25 years, the people of my mums generation will be left to suffer in silence with this illness, leaivng them and their loved ones in despair that nothing more, other than pain management, could be done to save their lives.

With the help of donations to the June Hancock Mesothelioma Fund, they are able to independently fund research specifically for mesothelioma, whilst providing support and advice to both the patient and their families.  You can read more about it on www.junehancockfund.org

Cancer changed my life forever, in ways I never knew, but with help and advice from charities such as this one and support from some very good friends, I always had hope!  We maybe cannot find a cure but we can help ease someones suffering.  Please help by making your donation today.
