Story

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and helped me reach my target!  For those of you who are visiting to make a donation, please don't let that put you off!  The Dogs Trust is a wonderful charity which rescues and re-homes thousands of unwanted and abandoned dogs every year.  They never destroy a healthy dog so your donation, however large or small, will contribute to making a dog's life a happy one.  Every penny counts!  Help me go way over target and I'll be even more delighted!   Special Thanks to the team at Vale Vets for your very generous donation!

The trip to the Arctic was amazing.  Challenging at times especially when the bitter cold set in.  Our accommodation had no electricity, no central heating, no running water and worst of all no flushing toilets!  Lots of calamities and catastrophes, but I'm so glad that I've done it, and especially glad now that it is over!  At times my feet and fingers felt so cold I didn't think they'd thaw.  Cooking for 12 people and washing up with no utilities was interesting, frankly I preferred being on "dog duty" feeding the dogs and clearing up poo!

The trip took me and my team of Huskies (Ost, Osten, Hanna & Zombi) 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle into Lapland, Northern Sweden, where temperatures dropped to -31C, not exactly A Place in the sun eh!!?  We travelled 180km over 5 days, and despite conditions, had a lot of fun!

THANK YOU to everyone who has donated either on line, at the quiz night or in person.  Your contributions mean I have now smashed my target of £2500 and it's not over yet!

£10 will feed a dog for 1 month.  £20 will microchip a dog.  £50 will buy coats to keep 10 dogs belonging to homeless people warm over the winter.

As many of you know, I am a huge dog-lover and it breaks my heart to hear about the terrible conditions that many dogs are subjected to.  Their only crime is to have been born!  Dogs are our angels, they love us unconditionally, they protect us and never question us.  So why do some people abuse them?

Take George - an ex-racing dog who was abandoned because he was going blind and no use to his owners anymore.  Loud noises terrified him and he was so shy he'd hide from visitors looking for a dog to re-home.  Then he met Suzi, another ex-racer and it was love at first sniff!  They are still looking for a new home, but until they find one, donations from people like you help give dogs like George and Suzi the best care possible.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.  Thank you so much for visiting my page.
