Macmillan are a cancer charity that I am sure you are familiar with. And for a lot of people, that is because they have either directly or indirectly benefitted from the amazing work they do - supporting patients as well as their families. For me, Macmillan has a very special place in my heart and I will be eternally grateful for their support.
I am doing this walk (and hopefully many, many more to come) in honour of my beautiful and amazing best friend, Mani Dhillon. She was fortunate enough during her treatment to be on a ward where all the nurses who cared for her were funded by Macmillan. Now, obviously it is the duty of a nurse to care for a sick patient, but Mani had the most exceptional treatment, empathy and love from these nurses. She became very good friends with a lot of them. Partly due to Mani's mad skills of making people love her in an instant, and partly because these nurses were just simply awesome.
Everyone will have their own experiences with Macmillan. I hope yours were as positive as mine and that today I've caught you while you're feeling pretty generous and don't mind throwing a couple quid my way.
A bit about me - I am asthmatic, dyspraxic and slightly arthiritic in my knees - so this won't be an easy venture. But as I would like to start hiking marathons in 2022, I best get my boots on and rub out some blisters - if you catch my drift.
All donations up to my fundraising target of £1000, I will match. (It is for a good cause after all. Also saved a shit ton on petrol and pints).
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your donations. It's warmly appreciated.
