I have decided to swim the Distance of the English Channel in a swimming pool to raise money for the Charity 'Mind'. To put it into perspective this is 22 miles, 35,405.6 meters and 1,408 lengths of a 25m pool. 

The reason behind this crazy decision is because I want to fundraise for a charity which supports people with poor mental health. I don't believe that anyone fully understands the effects that poor mental health can have and the difficulties it can bring to a persons life. There are far to many people in this world that are going through this alone and suffering in silence because they are worried what other people will think and that other people wont understand. Watching someone very close to me battle with depression and anxiety everyday has not been easy and it has made me realise that we could be doing so much more to support everyone's mental health and wellbeing. 

I hope that this challenge raises awareness and encourages anyone who might need support to speak out and contact Mind.
