Story
Dear All, in order to help victims in Japan restoring their world back to normal again, we need your kind and generous donations!!
We are a group of Japanese students in the University of Liverpool who are devasted by the earthquake and Tsunami happened in Japan on the 11th March 2011 and felt a strong urge to do something and anything we could do to support the victims in the affected area.
We have started our fund raising activities first in April 2011.
Our first on-campus collection on the 8th April 2011 was successful and we managed to raise £517.46.
Four of our team members bravely ran both Liverpool Women's 10KM (on 8th May) and Mersey Tunnel 10Km (12th June) and raised approx. £500 in total through generous sponsorship from their friends and families.
We also have done several fundraising events throughout the summer, such as ORIGAMI Family Workshop for kids and family at Victoria Gallery & Museum (June and July), 'Music and Poetry for Japan', a lunchtime concert with a poetry, performed by Keomungo (traditional Korean music instrument) player Eun-Jung Kim and an artist Sean Halligan, and another origami workshop at the Wallasey Central Library's 'Japanese Day' Event on 20th August.
Our final Origami Family Workshop at the Victoria Gallery & Museum will be held out on Saturday the 3rd September, 13:00-15:00.
For more details of the events, please go to our website: https://jtinternetsolutions.com/helpjapan/
We will also be selling handmade crocheted heart-shaped motifs on websites like Etsy to raise more money. We have chosen this motif because we strongly feel that our hearts and thoughts are and will always be with the victims in Japan, despite of our being here in the UK, so far away from Japan.
Also, the Bar Hannah's on Hardman Street in Liverpool has kindly agreed to have our collection tin at the bar. So, please feed the tin with your spare changes when you bought your beer ;-)
We would very much appreciate it if you could kindly and generously make a contribution: donation, organising fund raising events, appealing to people you know, etc.
Many thanks,
Emi xxx
