Story
Thanks for visiting our Jankowski's Bunting appeal page and helping us save this extraordinary bird from extinction.
Our BirdLife China Programme team has recently started working with Beijing Birdwatching Society to take urgent action for this highly-threatened species. There's much to be done while the chance to make a difference remains.
Your donation will fund urgently required conservation, like direct action to prevent the relentless conversion of its natural habitat into agricultural land and engagement with local communities and land owners to encourage the protection of these birds and the very specialised habitat they live in.
Your support is vital to this work and will make a real difference to its success. So please, dig deep, donate now and help us prevent another tragic extinction.
In 2010 this little-known bunting was uplisted to Endangered making it Asia's rarest bunting. It is now known to exist in just a few pockets of shrubby grassland and Siberian Apricot scrub along the border between Jilin Province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in China.
Reversing the rapid decline of a species like this is very difficult but our experience shows it can be successful with the right resources and individuals like you can personally make an enormous difference.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to us and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
You can hear an interview with Terry Townshend of Birdingbeijing.com talking about the species to Charlie Moores for Talking Naturally here.
Please make sure you add your email details when you donate so we can keep you informed about the conservation action you are supporting.
