Fundraising for Hope for Tomorrow
Story
Mel was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in September 2019 and attended Airedale General Hospital for treatment over many months. He spoke of how the staff in the various teams involved in his care were always caring and supportive to both him and us as the relatives.
During this time Mel learnt about their Chemo Bus (Mobile Cancer Care Unit) which operates throughout the district. He was impressed by the idea of being able to just go 'close to home' for treatment instead of making many journeys to Airedale. Unfortunately he was unable to make use of this service but he felt it remained a positive dimension to the team.
