I live in East Cleveland where I work as a paramedic for the North East Ambulance Service & I love it. However, sometimes our work has a lasting or traumatic impact on us which may cause issues with mental, physical &/or financial well-being. 

So, this autumn 2022 I am trekking to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro in East Africa to raise funds for The Ambulance Staff Charity who support staff past & present in times of need & is much valued by those who have used them. I have been training since January 2020 - the trek has been postponed twice from 2020 & 2021due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

This is a great opportunity for me to support my ambulance family because we ALL need help at times, just like our patients.

My story - I used to enjoy walking a lot, especially with numerous like-minded friends in the North East in my previous career as a walking group leader & as a member of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, until I had constant knee pain due to osteoarthritis. Thanks to 2 partial knee replacements, I am now enjoying walking again & am able to take on an exciting new challenge joining an organised trek led by experts. Visiting East Africa has been on my bucket list since I was a teenager & this autumn, I'm getting the chance to top the highest free-standing mountain in the whole world at 5,895m - I can't wait to get there! 

Although I have never attempted anything this extreme, I have every confidence that I will succeed. I hope you will help me to raise my target figure to support a nationwide cause.
