Story
At the moment it is so hard for all of the amazing supporters and fundraising teams to put on charity events on to raise funds for Rainbows Hospice.
We were lucky enough to have support from this amazing place with our daughter Sophie who was diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis at 10 weeks old. Sophie was very unwell from 10 weeks old and as life moved on it became clear that she would need 24hr care.
At Forst I was scared to go to the hospice as it seemed to remind me that Sophie was going to have a short life. I thought it was going to be a depressing place- but I was SO wrong.
Rainbows is like a home from home, filled with love and laughter. Obviously at times there are tears- but I can't think of any place in the work where I would have rather been when Soph was unwell.
5 years ago we went to Rainbows for end of life care We were terrified, but all that mattered to us was that Sophie was comfortable, pain free and at peace. We spent every day making memories with Sophie and her siblings For me my favourite memory was going to the cinema with Sophie- in her bed and being surrounded by hot chocolate and chocolate buttons. The screen all to ourselves with one of Rainbows support staff at our side in case anything was needed.
Thanks to rainbows Sophie died peacefully in my arms, holding her Daddies hand, surrounded by people who genuinely cared and loved her. For this I will never be able to thank Rainbows enough.
Rainbows are still very much in our lives with an open door and open arms when ever we need them. Sophie is in the memorial garden which we visit regularly. Please help us help them look after families like ours.
