I would just like to say a huge thank you to all of you that have supported me through this epic fundraising event. Thank you to all that have donated - I can genuinely say, had I not had the small matter of over £850 riding on completing the run, I would have seriously thought about returning to my warm bed, on what must have been the coldest and wettest 29th April on record.

Big thanks to my running partner Cheryl whose company, chat & time/food checks throughout the 26.2miles was invaluable. Thanks Mrs...and to my beautiful little girl, hubby (not so beautiful! but still lovely), wonderful mum, dad & Jim for braving the elements to cheer me across the finish line in just under 4 hours. Final thanks goes to Cheryl's partner Steve - Mr Organised and his pal, and fellow runner Dave whose pre-run antics didn't leave much to the imagination but kept Cheryl and I laughing throughout the first half of the race.

I've been blissfully living in denial since my friend Cheryl asked me last summer to join her in running (or attempting to run) the Manchester Marathon. The end of April 2012 seemed a million miles away and given that Cheryl and I have been running for a couple of years (6 milers in a morning, with the odd 12 miler thrown in for good luck), I agreed. How hard can 26 miles be????

Fresh off the back of an 18 and a half miler over the weekend (10th March 2012), the realisation of what I have set myself up for is playing not only on my mind but equally on my feet, knees, back....you name it!!! Not one to be beaten though, the training will continue and here's hoping that come the 29th April, a combination of preparation, adrenalin and divine intervention will get us across the finishing line.
