Story
I am running the Virgin London Marathon on the 22nd of April 2012 for A.C.T. The Behavioural Neurology Research Department at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.
My father Philip Gerrard was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease at Addenbrookes Hospital in 2000 at the age of 58 years, and is now in the last stages. Although he won't know I am running the marathon I am running it for him.
I have wanted to run the 26.2miles for a long time and have always felt that my dad is holding on to see me achieve my life time goal.
Dad always said if he could help the research to prevent his children and grandchildren getting such a terrible disease he would. He decided to donate his brain for the research. So I said, the least I could do is run 26.2 miles through the streets of London.
I am hoping to raise enough money to make a considerable contribution to the Behavioural Neurology Research Department to help them find a cure or to at least slow the disease down and make it more bearable for people like my mum and our family who care for people with dementia.
PLEASE donate generously. Any contribution will be welcomed. As it all adds up to a large pot.
