I'm running the TCS London Marathon for Dementia UK.Their nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia disease. 

Dementia is a cruel disease which has impacted 3 strong women in my family, my Mum, and 2 aunties on my Dad's side.  Watching my Mum gradually decline over a number of years was heartbreaking.  Thankfully my Mum was on the whole relatively happy and pain free, but the impact on my Dad and siblings in supporting her was great.  

More is needed to ensure families are aware of the support that is available to them.  Families often don't know what resources are available to help and support them as they care for their loved ones.

If you are able, please do donate to help Dementia UK continue to provide essential care and support to families in need.  They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days.
