Story

Hi there,

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I will be trekking almost 200KM 🙂 across the Sahara Desert in October 2022 to support the EY Foundation in raising funds to impact lives.

The EY Foundation is an independent UK charity supporting young people who face significant barriers to employment and has helped over 16,000 young people and social enterprises since 2014 through funds raised in the past.

The 10days expedition is not a walk in the park; I will be dealing with extreme temperatures, camping out under the stars, traversing the rolling dunes, desert plateaus, fossil fields and salt flats and taking mint tea (haha). However, just like I was some eight years ago when I climbed over 600 steps in Idanre Hills, Nigeria (Dec 2014) with my pregnant sister (lol), I am super excited to support the EY Foundation in raising funds/awareness through this purposeful trek across the Sahara Desert.

Funds raised will support young people from Free School Meal backgrounds to fulfil their potential and have a better start in the working world. Every donation goes a long way, and £100 could:

  • Help fund the travel costs of twenty young people to attend employability skills training or a business experience session. (@£5 per person)
  • Provide five young people with access to 8 Alumni events and activities per year, including peer employer and youth-led networks, inspirational speakers and insights into sector trends (@£20 per person)
  • Provide four young people with access to 4G/WiFi so they can take part in online employability skills training (@£25 per person)
  • Provide a young person with a bursary to buy suitable clothes for their work experience, and interview or future job (@£100 per person)

Please join me in raising funds and donating so we can support the EY Foundation in empowering young people from low-income backgrounds into all-round excellence even as they start their careers.

My fundraising target is £1,500 before the expedition. But, together, we can exceed the target, reach more young people, break down more barriers and change more lives.

Let's do this !😊.

Many thanks in advance for your support!

Jane A.

Note: All funds raised go directly to the EY Foundation – I will independently cover the trek cost and all other material elements (including personal equipment) of the expedition by myself
