MHA care home Harwood Court Resident Ruth Walby, is a larger than life character who is always ready to take on a challenge. This year she decided she might just like to complete the worlds biggest half marathon, The Great North Run. The team at Harwood rallied round and agreed to help Ruth along with the MHA fundraising team. A number of them said they would put in the training and push Ruth around the course in a wheelchair.

Sadly a decline in Ruth’s health means that that she is no longer able to to complete the challenge the way she would have liked,.

Hearing Ruth’s story and how upset she was I decided to try and help.

So I will be taking part in this years Great North Run in Ruth’s place.

I will be joined by volunteers who will take turns in pushing and I will be walking some of the way too.

There is now only 5weeks until the 13.1 mile challenge begins and any help at all with the smallest donation will be very gratefully received.

Whilst I am taking part. Ruth will be doing laps of Harwood Court ‘s own garden in readiness for my return with Ruth’s medal.
