We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

I am Jamie, I am 9 years old and I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on 23rd November 2015.  In some ways this has been one of the toughest times of my life so far, but then in other ways it has made me stronger.

Living with Diabetes is really hard and I had to learn to count carbs.  Injecting myself before I eat anything isn't great, the night time injection hurts me a lot but I have to do all of this every day now for the rest of my life to keep me alive.  It is worse when I get sick and it takes me longer to feel better.  Then there are all the highs, lows and not being able to sleep at night, I think the worst part is being woken up from a deep sleep to inject and I just feel rubbish.

Now that I am taking insulin I find I have more energy and I LOVE playing football, I play in goals for The Fair City 2007 Team but my dream would be to play in goals for St Johnstone FC one day.

I hope that some day the scientists will find a cure and I want to do as much as I can and raise lots and lots of money to help them do this.  I have decided that this is one of my challenges this year.  I asked my swimming teacher Scott if he would help me and here I am now with Team Jamie!  Between us we aim to Swim 22 miles which is the distance between Britain and France.

Please, please can you sponsor us?  Anything you can give us will go straight to Diabetes UK and if you pay UK tax you can Gift Aid too.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
