Story
Hello everyone,
This October i will be running The London Marathon for The Brain Tumour Charity to raise much needed funds and awareness. Having made a last minute decision to run the Liverpool half marathon last year which gained so much attention and over £7000 I've decided to go many steps further and plunge into the full one. Fortunately I was selected for The London Marathon so look out for me on the tele!
For anyone who doesn't know my mum (Maureen) was diagnosed with glioblastoma stage 4 in august 2021, this came as a real shock to us all, my mum had blurred vision so booked herself into the opticians where she was sent to A&E, a few days later she was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
My mum then had a 9 hour operation to remove the tumour, she recovered well and we were all hopeful she would make a full recovery, only to find out weeks later from the biopsy that my mum had glioblastoma stage 4 incurable and that she would have to under go more treatments, which included radiotherapy and oral chemotherapy.
Unfortunately my mum's condition has worsened and she has almost lost her sight and her mobility, she continues to be positive and brave throughout and hasn't complained once, which was confirmed on her most recent stay in hospital with all the nurses commenting on how much of a joy it was to take care of her, my mum is home again now and is so happy to be home and around all her family.
As a family we have watched my mum fight through all of this and we know that more needs to be done to help find a cure and raise awareness for this aggressive disease, please help us raise much needed funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Thank you everyone,
Jamie x
